Standing out together! With breeding and propagation in Thailand, and marketing and sales in the Netherlands, we deliver what we promise every day, whether it’s Vandas, green plants or exclusive gifts.
Standing out together. That is the philosophy behind ANSU Vanda.
‘Standing out’ defines our product, the Vanda. Of the 20.000 orchids in the world, the Vanda is among the rarest, with colours as vibrant as an expressive painting, patterns beyond any designer's imagination and a growth habit that defies logic.
‘Standing out’ also defines our approach: we combine breeding and propagation under ideal conditions in Thailand with production, marketing and sales in the Netherlands – a unique synergy in one company, resulting in perfection at every stage. Standing out together.
ANSU Vanda is Europe’s sole supplier of this exclusive orchid species. Since the early 1990s, we’ve focused entirely on the Vanda.Cultivation of this plant requires the utmost expertise, patience and endurance. By bringing together expertise from Thailand and the Netherlands within one company, we can give this remarkable orchid the attention it deserves.
For a long time, this orchid was considered commercially unviable as a flowering plant. It’s only in the last three decades that the Vanda has been cultivated commercially. Continuous breeding has turned the Vanda into an orchid with an impressive range of colours and patterns. ANSU Vanda currently offers over 100 varieties, each more beautiful than the last. New varieties continue to emerge, both as cut flowers and plants.
The plants originated on the rugged southern slopes of the Himalayas, from India to southern China. There, the Vanda grows high in the trees, with aerial roots clinging to branches, surviving on morning dew and raindrops.
In such a remote environment, the Vanda evolved with striking colours to attract pollinating insects. Its hues are remarkably varied, including blue – a colour rare in nature – making Vanda the queen of the jungle.
Vanda’s rise as the world’s most iconic orchid is due to Tamlong Suphachadiwong, renowned in Thailand for his extensive plant collection, curated in the business he set up with his wife, Heike: Suphachadiwong Orchids. Ultra-modern facilities there lay the groundwork for new varieties, prioritising shelf-life, productivity and new colour patterns. From seed to commercial release can take up to fifteen years, and the company in Thailand also handles the propagation.
The flowering plants then go to our Dutch production facilities for further finishing and sales, with products reaching global markets via exporters. Flexibility is a key part of this supply process, with ANSU Vanda uniquely adept at short-notice orders and mix orders.
ANSU Vanda is also responsible for international market outreach. The Vanda symbolises exclusivity in floriculture, with ambassadors worldwide. It is the first orchid that people select when decorating high-profile events, adding star quality to five-star hotel lobbies and living rooms, and captivating flower lovers with its intense colours and unique growth habit.
Suphachadiwong operates under conditions that meet European environmental standards, It was the first Thai company with MPS certification. The company also provides fair working conditions.
In the Netherlands, ANSU Vanda maintains a core team of staff, supported by specialised temporary workers, all of whom can count on receiving proper attention and development opportunities.
ANSU Vanda follows a strict environmental protocol: energy conservation through solar panels, optimal water use through recirculation and minimal chemical use through integrated cultivation methods. Certified by Global GAP, MPS-A, MPS-SQ and Plant Proof, we also engage with the local community by sponsoring a wide range of events.
